Health Conferences (7:30 am – noon)

The health conference begins with the health check as described above. With your measurements in hand, we will focus on the interpretation of your results in a session called “Watch Your Diet.” Take the mystery out of your health numbers and discover solutions that work. The next part of the conference will focus on “Health Crisis in America.” Today, 65% of all adults are either overweight or obese. The economical, physical, and spiritual consequences are enormous. Together, we identify the efficient and effective choices you can make to improve your health. You will experience the joy of becoming God’s ambassador for health. Why Do a Health Check?

Health checks let you know your risk for heart disease. Monitor your progress over the short and long term by repeating the health check at the end of the course and at one year. The results also let us know if Lighten Up is effective. The health checks are usually conducted Saturday mornings. Measurements include height, weight, percent body fat, blood pressure and a complete cholesterol profile.

Skip your breakfast so blood can be measured for: Total Cholesterol, HDL, LDL, VLDL, Triglycerides, and Glucose.

Results in about 15 minutes!

Lighten Up Program (8 weeks)

People need support and encouragement when making lifestyle changes. This need can be met by implementing the Lighten Up program. The program includes eight weekly sessions based on the spiritual fruits (see chart below). The 155-page Lighten Up book ($25) and the health video ($30) will be your guide. We encourage participants to each have a book and the group obtains a single video. At a time and location of your choosing, prayer, Bible study and health messages are combined to encourage you, your family and friends to improve health through increasing accountability and the love and support of your congregation.

Arrangements can be made for the Program Director or Program Assistant to conduct these sessions. However, we encourage leaders within your church to be trained to conduct the program at a Health Conference.
